The Day After

John sitting on the sofa he spent the night on and the waiter that brought my breakfast. Having a fancy waiter like this should cheer anyone up and make them feel better!

I got released to come home this morning. I'm not sure what time we got home, but it seemed so good to be here! My sense of time is still off, I have several hours missing from yesterday, hard as I try I can't remember. Weird feeling. I'm still headachy and feel beat up!

I talked to Mom this evening and she told me Bonnie Rogers was hit by a drunk driver yesterday and killed! So sad, she's such a sweet lady!

Surgery day

I had an outpatient procedure done today and ended up being admitted to the hospital. My oxygen sats were down and when the doc listened to my lungs she said it sounded like I had cellophane in them! She sent me for a CT scan, EKG and had blood work done. Luckily, I didn't have blood clots in my lungs, but she said I had coughed during the surgery and that was probably when I aspirated liquid into my lungs.

John should have had these leg squeezers when he had his foot surgery last year, maybe he wouldn't have gotten blood clots if they had used them!

The doctor admitted me to the hospital so I could be watched and have some breathing treatments. I think it ended up I only had two, that's all I remember. They were supposed to come in and do another one at 1 am. but I don't remember them doing that and I think I would remember. They also injected something into my vein that was supposed to dehydrate me and dry up the fluid in my lungs. I stayed in the new part of the hospital, it was nice, they have room service food, a waiter dressed in an apron with tails and a bow tie and black hat delivers the food that you order from the menu and they are private rooms with a sofa so a family member can stay with you. John stayed, that made me feel better to have him there.

Check out this video, wish these guys would have been there to sing me awake!

Cleanup Day

We spent most of the day cleaning out the Travel Trailer and washing clothes. Now the house is a total disaster from all the stuff coming in from the trailer. The trailer looks good, it's all ready for winter, we winterized the water system and hopefully have everything all fixed up.

We sat under our Locust Tree for a bit this morning for a break. Some of the leaves are starting to turn yellow, this group caught my eye as the sunlight hit them.

Christmas in September?

I was surprised to see a Christmas Display at KMart today. Wow, aren't they rushing the season by a bunch?? Christmas merchandise gets put out earlier and earlier every year! Maybe we should just move the holiday up to September! They also had Halloween costumes out, so maybe we can just have a Halloween/Christmas/Thanksgiving in September holiday! Poor old Thanksgiving gets left out in the stores, I guess there isn't much they can sell for it, so it gets ignored. I don't even want to think about Christmas already. By the time it gets close, I'm tired of seeing all the decorations and don't even want to decorate my house!

The green grass is gone now and our landscape is back to looking like this. For some reason I love this color, too, it looks like home to me!

The Last Day

A bittersweet day, the last day of our season at the Art Barn.

We walked on the golf course for the last time this morning. I'm going to miss seeing our geese and the beautiful grass and trees. What a wonderful way to start the day!

The festival booths at the Fall Festival and below are the artists inside. Our view this summer looking out our booth at Alan's art.

On the left looking down the main isle is Vickie's jewelry.

Next is Dennis' booth and then Matt's photos.

At the back on the barn on the left side is Monna's booth.

Opposite Monna on the right side is Cam's booth.

Next to her is Valerie's jewelry, then Don and David's booth. They kept the barn smelling good all summer with their merchandise!

Next to Don and Dave is Diane's Fused glass jewelry and pottery.

And back to the front of the barn is our booth. I only got this one shot of the outside of our booth today.

Not many people in today, the car show wrapped up about noonish and when traffic slowed down Alan said we could start packing up. John had to pick up the signs, so we didn't get started until he got back at about 1:30. It took us about 4 hours to take down and pack up. We were so exhausted by the time we got finished and the trailer made ready to go. Here we are taking down, our side of the barn was empty first.

Goodbye Art Barn. . .

We stopped to check the load and I shot this view of the sunset behind us.

We got home just after dark, about 6:30 and just backed the trailer into the yard. We'll start unpacking and cleaning tomorrow. John stepped off the Travel Trailer steps in the dark and fell and is hurting all over. It's not any fun to fall down when you get old! I came close to falling down them a couple times this summer and all that saved me was the rail.

Run To the Pines Car Show and our Art Festival

It was cold this morning! We walked first thing and parts of the walk were pretty cold, I could see my breath, burr! Cars were starting to line up on the road to get into the golf course when we left and were still coming in when we got back about 45 minutes later.

Here's closeups of the house with the train.

John and I checked out the car show early this morning, wow, lots of cool cars I would love to have!

Looking towards the barn. Frank Smith lets them use his property for parking cars for the car show. They charge $7 to park and the money goes to the golf course. I didn't realize, but they say it's having financial problems and so Frank does this to help them out.

The festival tents, we didn't have many vendors this time, only 7, I think.

As far as traffic went, the barn was packed full. We didn't do well, most were looking, not buying. We went out to eat with Alan and Vickie this evening, we tried out the Maverick Restaurant for the first time. Pretty good grub.

The day before the festival and Car Show

As we made the drive to Pinetop this morning, I thought how it is the last time we will be driving to the Art Barn this year. After 4 months of making this drive almost every weekend, I will miss it. The first signs of fall are appearing, the tips of some of the quakies are turning yellow and the ferns along the road are brown and dead and lots of the yellow flowers are finished blooming.

Some of the festival outside people set up today, but we didn't have many people in. I saw lots of cool cars driving onto the driving range where the Run to the Pines Car show will be starting tomorrow. John is working on a commission, a portrait of a customer's two Cocker Spaniels.

Val and Don were gone when we took the group photo of the Art Barn artists, so I shot this cute shot of the two of them today.

John put up the signs this evening and we were going down the road while the car parade was going up, so we got to see lots of neat cars.

After we got the signs up, we went and checked out the Fall Festival on Woodland Road, lots of vendors there, they had 4 rows of them! Lots of food vendors, too. Looks like that should be a good festival for them. We stopped in at a painters booth and while looking at his art, I recognized a painting that I bought at an art barn festival maybe 8 or 9 years ago! I never did meet the artist back then, he was gone from his booth and a neighboring artist made the sale for him. He is very nice and offered to help John find shows next year. He's been doing shows for 30 years, so should be a big help! As we were walking out, the lights went out, glad we were almost to the parking lot, it was dark! They were still out when we left, hope they figured out the problem!

Signs of Fall

The leaves are starting to turn yellow in the yard. I first noticed it on the elm across the street, then the tree in our front yard. Won't be long until they are bare!

Sunflower seeds

We tried out the new resturant in town this evening. It was pretty good, the chili couldn't beat El Camino, but in the words of our neighbor Joe, it was pretty good gravy!

They even had the kind of chips we like, flour tortilla!!

Rainy Day

We had a beautiful sunrise this morning. It was cloudy when I got up and it rained most of the day. Just a nice gentle rain.

I rescanned a couple of John's newest scratchboards, they are on the white clayboard and the first scans didn't look good, I scanned them in color and some of the white was yellow! Got that done and did a bit more organizing and cleaning in the computer room.

Seasons come and seasons go. . .

I looked out the window this morning and noticed that the sun has moved farther on its path to the south and its winter position. During the summer it rises about where the telephone pole is, maybe just a bit to the left of it. Now look at it!

We got a bit of rain this afternoon. Yea, love to get rain!

I spent a lot of time today trying to get the scans cleaned up and checking out scanners and printers. I'm having a hard time finding what I want in a scanner. I think I'll go with Epson this time, I don't like the Microtek one. I started cleaning in the computer room, organizing stuff by year and tossing stuff. I need to make room to put a scanner and printer if we get them.

When John got home this evening we went and checked out a pickup one of the guys at work said his uncle has for sale. He told John it only has 20,000 miles on it and is an 80 something. It looked way more worn that that, John looked at the engine and it's telling us it's turned over 100,000!
