Progress Report on the High School

I got John's scratchboard edited, burned to a CD and mailed this morning. On the way home from the post office, I checked out the school, they have torn down the entire wing that was damaged by the plane. I guess the brick walls weren't strong enough to re-use. I'll bet it's going to be hard to have school in session while they are rebuilding! I also stopped and took a picture of the Catholic Church, love the architecture!

We got rain again this afternoon, a nice gentle rain, we did have some thunder and lightning with it, but not too loud.

Storm Damage

I checked my garden this morning and found lots of things tipped over and laying on the ground that shouldn't be, more evidence that was some storm we missed yesterday. The peas that were growing in my corn had pulled the corn stalks down and I was afraid they were going to break, plus they have stunted the growth of the later corn, so I pulled them all out. They came up from seeds from last year and I just let them grow. One of my tomato towers had fallen over and I can't get it to stand up straight, it'll just have to lean. It's cloudy today and looks like more rain. I haven't checked the weather to see if we have more storm warnings going on.

Whopper of a Storm

Here's some photos taken in my garden, it's full of blooms right now! These are flowers on some carrots I left in from last year so I can get more seeds.

My green beans are blooming, it won't be long until I'm picking beans.

We drove over the mountain this afteroon to Pinetop and ran into some heavy rain. I got this cool shot through the window.

We went to The Barn to put up the new light we found at Ace. I remembered to take the picture I forgot the other day of our booth. The new light will light my photos, we put up more pro panels and put them on that and the way we put the pro panel blocks the natural light.

We picked up a pizza and went to Andy's house after we finished at the barn. John will be working on Andy's birthday so we paid him a birthday visit early. Hard to believe my baby is turning 40! Makes me feel old! We visited the animals while there, the ducks are getting so big, they're so pretty. They also have a turkey and some chickens. I love the chickens with feathers on their legs!

On the way home we ran into heavy rain and when we got home we found the kitchen was wet, wet, wet! We left a window open and rain had come in halfway into the room! The window sill was full, the rug in front of the sink, sopping, wow, it must have been a downpour coming in from the east. Wouldn't you know, the one time I forget to close the window, rain comes in!

Sittin' on the Front Porch

John and I like to sit out on the front porch and watch the rain. Lately seems like we haven't had much time to do that. Today we took time out and sat out while a gentle rain fell. It smelled so good! Misty and Santana like to take cover under the elm tree when it rains. Santana wasn't feeling like having his photo taken today, he kept hiding behind Misty!

Sunrise

John took this photo for me at sunrise this morning. I slept in and missed it.

John tried to put up fascia trim today, but the rain just wouldn't cooperate! Every time he got up on the ladder, here would come the lightning and thunder and raindrops! Then it would stop when he came inside! My grapes are getting a bath again.

Home Again

Pictures from our walk this morning. We've been watching this weird growth on two tree stumps growing larger and larger. Some of them look like flowers. It's kind of pretty.

After our walk we started working on our booth. We changed things around and rehung most everything. I think it looks good. I forgot to get a photo of it, we were rushing around trying to get it all done.

We got home about 11, it was so good to be home! Our phone still didn't work, so I called to see what the holdup was. After a long and frustrating phone call, during which I had to wake John up so he could tell them they could talk to me, the doorbell rang and it was the phone repair guy. Wow, what fast service, I thought. Nope, he already had us on his list for today. He said he hadn't been by on Saturday, so the person I talked to on Sunday lied to me! The repairman said don't feel bad, they lie to him, too.

John worked on the fascia installation and got a couple up. Stuff is growing big in my garden and I found my sunflower has bloomed and we have a pear!

White Mountain Roundup Day Three

We saw a gaggle of geese on our walk this morning. We counted 11 of them and Wikipedia says anything more than 5 is a gaggle. Funny word!

This little bird was collecting wood from the fence, it seems kind of late to be starting a nest.

Charles, Nikki and Kathleen stopped by on their way home to say goodbye. Nikki and Kathleen are going to a Justin Bieber Concert tonight, Nikki is a big fan! Hope they have fun!

I stayed at the barn today while John went to the Cowboy show. It was a slow day for both of us, I sold nothing and John one giclee. It rained again, the ground is so wet, mushrooms are popping up everywhere. We were too tired to start putting the booth back together tonight, so we decided to stay another night and went out to eat Mexican food, stopped by Walmart to get more spoons so John can make another spoon fish and went home, we were so tired we were in bed by 8!

White Mountain Roundup Day Two

I went with John to the show again today. It was a long day, 10am to 9pm, so I wanted to be able to spell him and also see the show. I went to the matinee and it was fabulous! Here's the MC of the show, Dakota Livesay, he was so funny! Don't 'ya love his outfit!

The Mountain Saddle Band sounded great, loved the songs they sang!

and the poets were so fun! Here's one of them, Chris Isaacs. I gave up taking pictures after this one, I was too far away and the flash wasn't reaching, so the photos aren't very good.

Dave Stamey recited poems and also sang and he has the most amazing voice! Some of his songs reminded me of John Denver's.

Some of the booths at the show, this one is Johnson Yazzie, I love his painting of the girl in red!

and here's CM Okerwall, I thought I had gotten pictures of most of the booths, but got just these two.

Here's John working on a scratchboard.

Andy's family stopped by to see us, they came in to the show during intermission and Michael saw me going back to my seat and got me to join them. I found Molly and Harv had also come over and were visiting John when we got out of the show. We had lots of traffic today and had a pretty good day!

White Mountains Roundup Day One

We walked first thing this morning, I love our early morning walks through the golf course!

First day of the show! We got there at 8 to start setting up.

It's nice to have a show inside, no worries about the rain and we did get some today, a torrential downpour. It was a slow day, hardly any people came, but we did sell one item that wasn't even for sale! Our business card holder, LOL, that's not the first time it's happened. This was the first time we'd used this one, our last one sold a couple weeks ago.
The Mountain Saddle Band entertained us today, love their music!

Charles, Nikki and Kathleen showed up this afternoon, what a nice surprise!

After the show we arranged to meet Andy and Jessie at KFC to eat, then Jessie came home with us so she could spend time with Nikki. I think the girls had a good visit. Nikki fixed up the girls hair with her hot iron straightener and they all looked so pretty! We found we have no phone and no internet service. I called repair and they said someone would come out tomorrow.

Charles came up to go to the reunion, but since Grandma isn't able to go, he decided to skip it and go visit her in SJ tomorrow, so Andy is going to do that too.

On the Road Again

We left in the midst of a rainstorm for Pinetop so we can take down the pro panels and art we are going to take to the White Mountains Roundup tomorrow. Lots of road construction going on and we had a short stop near the Greer turnoff. Wow, they are removing a bunch of rocks, making a cut bigger. Not sure if they are going to widen the road or what.

The ground around the barn is so wet that it turns into a lake when it rains!

We stopped in at the gym where the art show will be and found the location of our booth, we're at the front of the gym, in a great spot! We put up our pro panels, we'll bring the art tomorrow. Then down to the dentist for an x ray, the doc says John needs a bit more time to grow in bone before the implant. They rescheduled it for October.

Making the House Low maintenance

John put up the first section of fascia today. We're putting up metal so we won't have to ever paint it again!

Flowers and lily pads, love my pond area!

Brothers

John's oldest brother has been down visiting their Mom and he and another brother came up this morning for a visit. It's not often the three brothers can get together these days.

My First Ripe Tomato!

I picked my first tomato this morning! It's small, but it tasted so good! Here's my bell pepper and tomato plants, they're getting so big!

Spent the day doing laundry and scanning in John's new scratchboards.

Wow, What a Storm!

I woke up early this morning not feeling good, so we didn't walk. I missed it!

John took this shot of Jessie sleeping in this morning. She looks so comfy all snuggled up in her little bed!

I somehow missed getting pictures of the necklace Jessie made this weekend. Val let her pick from a bucket of beads and she strung it yesterday and Val took it home to finish putting the clasps on it and brought it in to her this morning. Val is such a sweet person to provide her with things to do!! Guy's metal bistro table and chairs sold this morning, yea for Guy and Sue, they were so happy to get the call saying it was sold!! I got a picture of Jessie at the table, it's a really cool table! Here's some pictures from today.

We had a visit from our favorite customers today, they came to pick up the commission John did for them. We always enjoy visiting with them, and had a great visit!

We took Jessie home, then headed for home. We could see clouds and lightning in the distance and soon drove into a HEAVY rainstorm. We could hardly see where we were going and it was so loud, we couldn't hear each other talk! Wow! It had rained on my garden, and everything looks good.
