We got Snow!

When we went to bed last night I thought it wasn't going to snow, no clouds in sight and it just didn't look like snow was on the way. But the weatherman was right, this is what I saw when I opened the door early this morning to see what it was doing.

It was a day of snow, sun, snow, more sun and more snow. We didn't ever get much on the ground.

WIND!

It's been a windy day. The weatherman says snow is coming tonight and tomorrow. So hoping he's wrong!

John worked on his bear today, he's making a base for the bear to sit on so it can be fastened and not tip over on someone. The front is pretty much finished and he's working on the back now. The rock was placed for weight because he was front heavy and John was afraid someone would lean on his head and the bear would fall on them. He's decided to put him on a base and that will keep him from from tipping so he removed the rock.

The base in progress.

Friday

Cold and breezy day. I ventured out a bit and visited with Misty and Santana and took some photos of an old truck in the neighbors yard. I'm so sad that my favorite old truck that was in their yard disappeared. Someone was cleaning up and I guess they took it away.

Beans

It's been a long time since I made salt pork beans. The other day I had a craving for them, so I cooked up a batch today. We had beans and sopapillas for lunch.

Here's what I did with the left over beans from lunch, yummmm!

Cloudy and Windy

Cold and windy day again. John was supposed to see the dentist this morning to have a couple fillings, but the receptionist forgot to put his appointment in the computer, so they booked someone else in his time and he has to go back! Not good!

Here's our sunset, pretty colors!

Beautiful Day

Here's the head of the bear John is working on now. His fur is railroad spikes! He's going to look pretty cool.

We had some warm time today, we were able to sit outside and bask in the sunshine while we were visiting with Mom and Norman this afternoon, it was so nice!

Later, we rode over to Andy's to take him John's old tool chest and borrow a pipe bender from him. I love the scenery along this highway, I call this hill Sara, it reminds me of the dino in the Land Beyond Time movies.

I Almost Forgot!

Yikes! I didn't think about my photo for the day until late this afternoon. So I ran out and snapped this, not great, but I got one!

Sunday Get Together

John and I went to Mom's today for a family dinner and get together. A friend from North Carolina is visiting her this week and she wanted Norman to meet her family. His sister, Doris had a stroke recently and he wanted to come out and see her before it's too late. Kelsey brought her new little puppy Bella, who was the hit of the day. She's so tiny, she weighs under 2 pounds right now and is so snuggly.

It was cold and breezy and we could see the storm up on the mountains as we drove home. Burr!

Party and bad weather

It was a windy and rainy day! Weather report said 100% chance of rain or snow.

We attended Jessie's 11th birthday party today. I think she had a fun time. She shared her big day with a friend who's birthday was actually today. Her friend wasn't going to have a party for her friends, so Jessie shared her party. Jessie is such a thoughtful, sweet girl! The four girls spent the night at Jessie's, I'll bet her parents didn't get much sleep!

It rained on us on the way home. Wonder if we'll get more snow?

Tax Day

We got our taxes done today. It's always a relief to be done with them for another year! Our usual preparer won't be doing taxes this year, her young son is in the hospital and will be for a time, so she is with him, as she should be. Her sister in law did our taxes this year, she did a good job and it was fun getting acquainted with her.

We pass by this old house on our way to St. Johns and I often wonder who used to live here. Kind of sad to see it crumbling into the ground.

A Day Out

We went to Show Low shopping today. John's recliner is getting worn out and he has been wanting a new one, so we went looking and found them on sale! Of course we found more than just recliners, LOL, the one he liked didn't go with our sofa, so we decided to get a new one. Luckily, he got a lump sum for his remaining leave time, which will pay for them. May be the last set we get! We've been drooling over this sofa for a while, every time we visit the Mattress Factory we say that when we need a new sofa we're going to get one like this! We ordered one that will have a bit darker fabric on the arms and everywhere the solid fabric is, close to the color and fabric on the chairs, but otherwise will be the same. We also ordered 2 recliner chairs like this one.

We rode home up over the mountains. There was a lot less snow on the ground than I was expecting. This is a view of Sunrise, not sure if they are still open.

Every time I pass this sign I am puzzled, are we supposed to buckle up so we can save White Mountain Apaches or does it mean that we don't need to bother buckling up, only White Mountain Apaches are worth saving by the wearing of seat belts?? Why couldn't they just say Everyone Buckle Up??

Lovin' This Weather

Another nice day. I enjoyed a short walk to the corrals and back and John worked in his shop with the doors open. He's working on a new sculpture, a bear. It's going to be a cool looking piece!

Here's the little scooter he's been working on. Helping Trent with his scooter reminded him of the scooter he had when he was about 13 and so he made a little model of it. Pretty cute!

First Picnic Of the New Year

We've been having temps in the 60's here, and it's made me have picnic fever, so today we got subs and headed for South Fork. It's still winter there! We found a picnic bench in the sun and were able to eat outside, but there was snow on the ground, the river is frozen on top, we could hear the water running underneath and see it in a few melted spots. It was nice to get out in the forest even if it was cold!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you all have a great one! John surprised me with a heart box of chocolates this morning, he sneaked off yesterday to pick them up. Then for lunch he took me out to eat at the Trail Riders. The tables were all decorated for Valentine's Day and were very festive looking!

After lunch we picked up steaks to grill and a Strawberry Shortcake for this evening.

Another beautiful day and we decided to go for a walk while the weather is good. Made it to the bridge this time, not as far as we were going, but it's been a couple months since we walked outside.

Beautiful Weather

It was so nice out today! We rode over to visit with Andy's family this afternoon and found them all outside enjoying the weather. Jessie is our little Rainbow Bright girl right now, she dyed her hair pink and blue and looks adorable with her pink bow!

Andy was working on their little scooter and got it going and Andy, John and Josh took it for a spin.

John Wilkes Booth Memorial Shootout

The Wilhelm guys held their annual shootout today. Carl hosted the event, which was held in Carl's basement this year. John said it was a fun time and he even came home with a trophy this year! Winners of the trophies were: Trent for Rifle and Handgun and John the dart trophy.

We've Got Buds and The Secret Targets!

I thought I'd been seeing a difference in the lilacs lately, so I took a close up look and sure enough there are buds starting to swell!

I found out recently that the archery game in wii sports resort has some secret targets to shoot at! Some of them you can't even see, you just have to guess where to shoot. So far, we aren't doing well at hitting them. LOL, it gives us something new to shoot at though.

Foggy Morning

The world was foggy when I got up this morning. It was pretty and soft looking.

I went with John out to the dump this afternoon. Look at this pile of preart I saw, LOL!

The electric company is drilling holes and putting up poles. Bummer, they are in a new place and will ruin the view!

We were so sad about the view that we had to stop and get a treat, yumm!

Sunny Day

We had 2 to 3 inches of snow on the ground this morning. It started melting pretty fast and the roads were soon clear. We do have a bit left in the yard.

We had a surprise visit from Mel and Ladd this afternoon. It was good to see them, we haven't seen Ladd for several years!

Snow

It's snowing again. I wish I was a bear and could hibernate!
