It's February Already!

It's February and there is one month less to go to spring!!  Yea! 

I woke up to a terrible smell in the house this morning. John was already up and had noticed it and was checking out the furnace, flue gas was coming out of the heating vents!  The air pressure in the house apparently got too low and caused the exhaust to go down instead of up the pipe, then it got sucked into the blower and it blew it into the ducts and all over the house!  The joys of heating with a furnace!

Our electric bill for December went up so much that we started wondering if it would be cheaper to heat with our furnace instead of the ETS heater, so we turned it off the day they read the meter and turned up the furnace, planning to do a test for the month of February.  It worked fine for couple days, not sure how the bad stuff got into the duct work, now we have to check that out and figure out what happened.  John crawled up in the attic to check out the screens covering the air supply to the closet and they looked okay.  He noticed that the door to the blower chamber was not closed tightly, so he thinks that was the cause and duct taped it shut.  Luckily, we had John's studio to retreat to until the smell could clear out of the house, it gave me a headache and made me woozy, no fun!  I'm just glad it wasn't bad enough for us to wake up dead!

there is a next time, we'll be warned!
