Two Weeks. . .

We've had our new mattress for two weeks now and I think we are both sleeping better.  John says he feels more rested and his midday naps are getting shorter.  The big thing I've noticed is that when I wake up I remember having dreams.  For a long time now I've not felt like I had any dreams when I woke up.  Now, I remember snatches of lots of dreams.  I think that must mean that I'm getting into deeper more restful sleep.

I started a few seeds today.

We went for a ride around town this afternoon.  John came back from a shopping trip to Woodland and invited me to go, he said it was such a nice day, we needed to open up the top on the car and the windows and enjoy the day.  By the time we got out, it had clouded up, but we still enjoyed the ride and still opened the window in the roof.

We ate at Ray's restaurant tonight, we've noticed that there aren't many cars parked there when we drive by and felt guilty that it's been so long since we went.  They don't have much of anything that's South Beach, so when I started the diet, we stopped going.  I had a salad and had them leave off what I couldn't eat.  I like my salads much better!  I don't think restaurants know how to make a good salad, the one I had tonight was a plate of lettuce, with 4 slices of cucumber, 3 tiny slivers of celery, a few sliced carrots and a couple sprigs of broccoli, all on the edge of the plate, not mixed into the lettuce.  And grilled chicken on top.  It was called a Chef's Salad, but I'd call it a lettuce salad!

Sunday

The weather was a bit nicer today, still cold out this morning when we walked!  John thought it was warm, but I was all bundled up and my ears were still freezing!  We forgot to build up to 2 miles since it's been a while since we walked and by the time we got home I was so tired and sore!  We saw 2 dead Javelinas, someone had dumped them by the roadside, I wonder where they were killed?  I don't know if they live in the area or not.  Dumb place to  dump them, now it's going to smell bad there for a long time!

Did laundry and cleaned a bit this morning.  Went shopping this afternoon.

Cold!

No clouds in the sky, and it is pretty cold out!  John said it was 6 degrees this morning.

We went back to the ETS heater when the month was over, still
waiting on the electric bill to see which is cheaper electric or
 furnace, but we hated the noise of the furnace coming on at
night and waking us up!  Sure hope electric is still cheapest!

I went down to the museum to the presentation about the observatory at Casa Malpais. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised that Ken hadn't just bought into Chris' theory. He did his own research, found a photo of the feature before Chris messed with it and came to his own conclusions, which were not the same as Chris'! Bought his booklet on his research.

Andy, Jessie and Josh came over so Andy could put his new radiator in. Josh brought his skateboard and Jessie her scooter and they had fun riding them on the sidewalk and the road.  Josh is fascinated by my greenhouse, he likes looking at the plants.  Things are getting big, the peas are about halfway up their fence!  You can't see through the walls, but they are taking on a green cast from the plants inside.

This evening we vegged out and watched TV, too worn out to do much else.  It was cold and a bit breezy at times today. 

Windy Again

Cold and windy again.  John said he could smell snow in the air this morning and he saw a few flakes falling.  Weather says more wind this week.

John made the old Davis bed headboard into a bench for me.
Jack got the frame at the ranch house, took it home and fixed
it up and used it, then brought it to grandma's when he divorced
and moved in with her. When she died, Mom and Dad gave it
to us. We used it in the guest room until we put the bigger bed
in there and it was too small.

Lunch was a burger patty topped with Veggie cheese, fried onions,
avocado and Pace Picante.  I wonder if I'm becoming addicted
to avocados?

We ended the day with one of our favorites, green chili beans.

March Came In Like A Lion!

Wind advisories today and boy are we are getting wind!

We made a trip to the dump today to get rid of the old mattress and some trash.

The missionaries stopped by and John challenged them to a game of darts again, then they helped move the mattress into the guest room and I got it all put together.  The quilt and spread are a bit small, but they'll do for now.

It's Leap Day

I had intentions of doing something to celebrate this being Leap Year and Leap Day, but I didn't end up doing much.  What do you do to celebrate a day that only comes along once every 4 years?  Humm, I have 4 years to figure it out!

Leap Day Dawn

We took the old mattress and box springs out of the guest room and put together a base for the replacements from our room.  The mattress in the guest room was one we got from Andy, a motel throw away from years ago and it is so hard and uncomfortable!  The king takes up a lot of room, but it will be more comfortable for people!

We got the base all built and the foundation on, now we just
need help getting the mattress moved.

We ate supper with Andy and Susan's family, that was our celebration!  Had a good visit with them.

Cold and Windy

We had a windy night, it kept waking me up with stuff clanking and banging outside.  I saw a snowplow go by on the highway early this morning, coming from up Nutrioso way.  We had a bit of snow on the ground here, just a light dusting in spots where the wind dropped it.   The weather says more wind and maybe snow today.

We took the car up to LeSueur's Auto to have them see if they can find the module to fix the problem with it not starting when it's hot.  Hope they can find the part and get it fixed!

Wind!

It's been a windy day.  Spring must be here!

We ran down to SJ and John delivered the "Chasemobile"  I think it was a big hit!  Everyone loved it.  It's a bit big for Chase right now, his little legs barely reach the brake pedals and his hands have to stretch to reach the hand crank.  He tried to use it just using one arm, I think once he gets the idea and sees his siblings and cousins ride it, he will figure out how it works.  I hope it will help him develop his right arm.  Chase had a stroke last year at only 2 years of age and for a time was unable to use his right side and they weren't sure if he would walk again.  He is walking, running and getting around good, so his brain has made new pathways to send signals to his leg.  The brain is so amazing!

The electricity was out again when we got home, so we went to Subway for lunch, didn't want to open the fridge and let out all the cold.   Brad Goodsell followed us home, he had a corrogated pot he gave us!  It was given to him a few years back and he said he and his wife really didn't like such things and he thought we'd appreciate it.  He tried to sell it, but with the new laws mo one wanted to take the risk because he had no paperwork with it.  The museum didn't want it either, so he thought of us.  Cool!  It will remind me of my days at Casa and the pot I helped dig out of room 10.

I did a check on the greenhouse this afternoon and found a couple of the metal fasteners on the end had slipped, so I got John to help me fix them and put up a few extras.  The wind is picking up, yick!

John and I went out to dinner with Paul Krookston.  He came by to show John the blueprint he did for the outdoor lighting for the outside of the old school.  They are planning to redo the grounds, too.  It was raining as we left!  Cold and windy tonight.

Moving The Bear

I think John loves to lift things.  Yesterday, he hoisted the bear up and put it on the trailer.  He was going to weigh it, but the dump was closed.  Today he hoisted it off the trailer and put it in the back of the pickup.  Not sure why, LOL, guess it's a guy thing.

I cleaned off all the stuffed animals on the tables by our bed, but I just couldn't put this one away.  Jessie brought it over for John when he got his ankle operated on and told him "I brought that Simpson Girl to watch over you, she will take care of you!"  So, she's still there watching over him.

Did laundry today. The wind blew a bit and it wasn't as warm today.

Where Have All The Rabbits Gone? Long Time Missing. . .

We have noticed on our walks lately that we aren't seeing any rabbits.  Last summer and fall, we often saw them.  There are two big Hawks hanging around the area, are they the cause of the decline of the rabbits?  Today lots was going on along our walk route.  Guys on 4 wheelers taking hay to cows, a coyote in the pasture with the elk and cows.  We watched it, but didn't see it bothering the livestock.  We saw the cows owners on our way back and told them about it, they had noticed and said there are two of them!  They figure the cows with horns will take care of any coyote problems!

John finished the bear!  He loaded him on the trailer and gave him a bath to wash off all the welding dust, then parked him in front.

Today was the grand opening of the new Chamber and they had tours of the museums and a ceremony at 6 pm.
